Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has received a significant call-up to the national side, replacing the injured Rishabh Pant for the ODI series against New Zealand. Jurel’s selection is a direct reward for his outstanding form in the domestic circuit, particularly his dominant performance in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT).
Jurel was instrumental in leading Uttar Pradesh to the top of Elite Group B in the VHT, where he amassed an impressive 558 runs. This prolific run-scoring ability, combined with his skills behind the stumps, has cemented his status as one of India's most promising young talents. His inclusion in the ODI squad provides him with a crucial opportunity to gain experience at the highest level.
This development highlights the importance of strong domestic performances in securing a spot in the national team. For Jurel, who has been consistently knocking on the door of international selection, this call-up marks a major milestone in his burgeoning career, offering him exposure ahead of a packed international and IPL calendar.

We were honoured to invite Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji to Arjun and Saaniya’s wedding. Thank you, Modi ji, for your blessings and thoughtful advice for the young couple.
The IPL is a different beast altogether. It is cricket on steroids, in my opinion. I was fortunate enough to spend ten years in the IPL. I started at the Deccan Chargers under Darren Lehmann for two years, although I only played one game there. Then I had six amazing years at Kolkata Knight Riders, one of my favourite franchises I’ve been part of. After that, I spent two years at the Mumbai Indians, where again I only played one game. But that’s okay. The IPL has gone from strength to strength. When we talk about growing the game, the IPL is the backbone of that growth. The standard of cricket there is the best in the world. We’re now seeing 14-year-olds scoring hundreds. What better way is there to announce yourself than scoring an IPL hundred? To do that at 14 years of age is truly special.
One bowler I would love to have a battle with? Abhishek Sharma.
